15 minute fast fix fee: If we arrive and fix your issue within 15 minutes, you'll only pay a $82.50 callout fee (+$102.50 for business).

Expected commit time: Most jobs are next day unless we can fit you in same day. Emergency: If it's an emergency and can't wait, our staff can attend your site for a 100% surcharge (i.e. double usual rates) - please call to book. 

Saturday & Sunday: Yes we can attend, please note a $50 surcharge applies. 

Business hours: Our standard hours are Monday to Friday 8am to 9pm. Outside these times a $50 surcharge applies for weekend Callouts. (i.e. $165 first hour), on public holidays and from 8pm to 8am we have a 100% surcharge (i.e. double quoted rates above). 

Remote support: If we can do your job remotely and you'd like to save $20 per hour, we can use our remote desktop tool. This is a safe and secure way of working on most IT issues. 

Travel: Included for addresses in Kapiti Coast, i.e. Paekakariki to Manakau. Surcharge may apply for other areas.

If you're not completely satisfied with our services, we'll refund your money in full. All we ask is that you let us try and fix the issue first. The 15 days starts after full payment has been made on your invoice.

You'll need to let us know why you'd like a refund with a phone call to our helpdesk however we definitely won't make things difficult - we'd just like to improve for next time. 

Excludes business rates and any hardware unless covered by CGA.

Frequently Asked Questions

How soon can you come?

Most of the time we can come next day however during busy or unexpected periods this may be 1-2 days. For urgent callouts we're nearly always available during our 24/7 hours however our callout is double the hourly rate - see above for more accurate pricing. If a same day slot comes up after you've booked, we'll call you and try and see if you would like it moved closer to the original time chosen without any surcharges. 

What is your standard business hours? 

We are available Monday to Friday, 8am to 8pm. We're also available on Saturday and Sunday with a $50 surcharge on the first hour. For public holidays and 8pm to 8am callouts we charge a 100% surcharge. i.e. double our hourly rates. 

What is the difference between residential and business?

Residential is for home owners who have off the shelf technology or IT equipment that often doesn't have UAC or admin controls. Small business owners are welcome to choose residential and after the first visit we'll let you know if you should be on our business support package. 

Our business rates includes our most senior engineers with experience in small to medium businesses and corporate networking infrastructure, hence our slightly higher rates. 

Please note if you have a work issued laptop, ensure you have local admin or know the admin password if something needs to be changed. Most IT departments won't give this out to us or you, so to avoid disappointment please check with your company IT policy first to avoid any issues. 

Which areas do you cover for on site callouts?

We primarily cover Kapiti Coast from Paekakariki to Manakau. By appointment we visit Wellington, Porirua and Levin.

What IT services do you offer?

We offer a wide range of hardware, software, wireless, smart home, cabling and smart technology services. We're also able to help with printers, scanners, tablets, smartphones, home audio and games consoles. Please note we are unable to fix damaged, dropped, smashed screens or similar hardware faults. We recommend you check with your manufacturer or retailer for official repair processes. Checkout our full range of services here.

Will you climb a ladder, roof space, run cables etc?

Unlike some of our geeky competitors who won't go anywhere near these things, we are more than able to do this and have insurance that covers us for this. If your access point is in the roof, cables need run or a ladder is needed this is no issue for us. 

We are unable to go on the actual roof though, and may require assistance from a suitable contractor if this is needed (i.e. aerial guy). Where advanced cabling is required, we'll need our electrician to complete the work - or for the homeowner to arrange the cable run with their builder/sparky. 

What payment methods do you offer?

We offer bank deposit and is the only option with no added fees. We also take cash on site, or can accept EFTPOS and credit card payments in person and via our website. 

How is billing handled?

We use time and materials billing. i.e. you'll have a callout and first hour charge as one quoted price (minimum one hour - unless our 15 minute fast fix applies). Then we bill in 15 minute increments for any additional time required. 

Hardware or components over $200 will have a 50% upfront deposit to secure, order in and install them. This is waived for repeat clients. The 50% balance and any labour costs are due within 7 days after install - please note as per terms and conditions, supplied goods is the property of IT Nerds until the balance has been paid. This will affect warranty claims, money back guarantee and any future work we may do for you.

Our travel costs are built-in to our prices for the Kapiti Coast - some addresses may have a rural surcharge. If new parts or tech are required we'll either supply them if we have in the van, or order these in. A return visit may be required if you can't install yourself, hence we introduced our 15 minute fast fix charge to save you $ for this visit if required. 

Please settle your bill within 7 days. We are are a small business and don't normally accept 20th of the following month payments unless you're on a monthly managed services agreement with us and are paying our business rates. If you only pay once a month, please ensure you choose business callout and make it clear you only pay once a month.

IMPORTANT: Please read our list of IT services we can and cannot help with. Most our cannot's are around custom built gaming PCs or hardware faults. As a mobile IT business we have limited resources for major faults, equipment failures. We recommend taking your device to a PC repair store or seek retailer advise. Most other IT techs will ask to take your away after spending an hour or two on site - we don't offer this.
